bucket brigade

With the help of Communities for Better Environment, SWOP initiated a low-tech, but potentially effective community air monitoring system. With this technology, residents are able to take a sample of the air they're breathing when experiencing adverse health effects (eye, nose, throat irritation, headaches, skin rashes etc.) to determine what chemicals they are breathing and/or the source of pollution. We know the types of chemicals intel is releasing into the air. We know the health effects of those chemicals. The Bucket Brigade will help us to determine if these health effects are related to Intel's air pollution.

Monitoring Intel's air emissions-an update.

Ideally, of course, we want Intel to pay for a comprehensive air monitoring system (infra-red laser, 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week). A comprehensive monitoring system will cost approximately $150,000. Each bucket costs $250. For right now, the Bucket Brigade is the most powerful tool we have to hold Intel accountable to the communities it pollutes.
