Vote in our webpoll to the right and tell the politicos you want to vote on a minimum wage increase in the fall.
Martin Heinrich has introduced a bill in the city council to send a minimum wage increase to the voters in October's city elections.
Do you support the increase? Against it? Would you like to see the increase reflect a real living wage? Vote in this week's webpoll.
ABQlivingwage.org, Albuquerque Living Wage Coalition's website, has info - as does Martin Heinrich's homepage.

Hi there SWOP! I am curious to know why you have left out what I see as a very important option on this poll. THose of us who are for a living wage, but agaisnt putting it on this Oct 4 ballot. See I support a living wage one hundred percent, I think its the only moral option for a socicety if capitalism is to be the accepted economic system. But as a political organizer I'm afraid there hasn't been enough work on the issue just yet to get it to pass, and THAT is the most dangerous thing i think we could have. If this ballot initaitve fails, and I'm afraid it will, we will be setting back the living wage movement in Albuquerque for at least 5 years. This is ipmortant, creating a society with justice and fairness is of the highest importance, but I oppose, personally, putting this on the ballot this fall.
Very good point you bring up, bro.
There are many "be careful what you wish for" pitfalls in the proposal.
There is a petition circulating parallel to Heinrich's bill that looks to increase the wage a little more.
So it looks like this thing will be going to the voters no matter what.
I did hear from folks that polling has shown strong support from the electorate.
We'll see.
