SWOP homepageABQ Bloggers: Help Save the Internet
From the folks over at Free Press...
We've told you about how Comcast hired seat-fillers to keep the public from attending a public hearing regarding Comcast's recent blocking of Internet traffic.
Comcast can try, but they can't shut us out or shut us up. They've showed us why we need Net Neutrality. With Rep. Heather Wilson's support, we can move forward to reinstate this fundamental protection for the Internet.
Make your voice heard right now by urging Rep. Wilson to support the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act":
Call Rep. Wilson to Support Net Neutrality
These underhanded tactics are all a part of the phone and cable scheme to kill Net Neutrality -- the principle that protects what we do, where we go and whom we connect with on the Internet. The best way we can fight back is to restore Net Neutrality as the law of the land.
Reps. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Chip Pickering (R-Miss.) introduced the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008 (HR 5353) to do just that. Their bill would stop these corporate attempts to set up roadblocks on the information superhighway.
This bill guarantees Net Neutrality by restoring it in the foundation of communications law. It also promises that the public -- not phone and cable companies -- will control the fate of the Internet.
We must pass this bill. Markey and Pickering need your help. Please pick up your phone and call your representative today.
Rep. Heather Wilson (202) 225-6316 or (505) 346-6781
Tell Rep. Wilson to support the Internet Freedom Preservation Act (HR 5353) and take a stand with the public.
Read a Script and Tell Us About Your Call
The phone and cable lobby has billions of dollars. We have you. The Internet won’t stay open for long if people like us don’t take action to defend it. Do that right now, by urging your representative to support this important bill.
Sincerely,
Timothy Karr
Campaign Director
