People's Freedom Caravan, Day 1

Caravan in Carlsbad

We left Albuquerque this morning right around 7:30, two large charter buses full of people who managed to be both sleepy and excited at the same time. On the bus, we've spent time introducing ourselves, reading and sleeping, watching George Lopez and Seinfeld (yes, we're idealistic but we also like to laugh at goofy sitcoms) and daydreaming, of course. We got to Carlsbad a little after noon, where the Dorado Family fed us a great enchilada lunch. In Carlsbad we picked up another 12 folks, including the Dorado's and the Martin Luther King Dream Team. Now we're in the final leg into San Antonio, with The Motorcycle Diaries for entertainment. It's been a long ride today but surprisingly it’s gone pretty fast. We're a happy bunch, thrilled to the last one of us to have this opportunity to be part of a historic social justice caravan heading across the South.

Many thanks to all of you good folks who supported us in a myriad of ways to undertake this journey. Keep checking back, we'll keep the updates flowing. And check out our photo pool on flickr for many more pictures over the coming week: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pfc2007
