Position: Summer Youth Interns (5)
Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00am-3:30pm
Pay: $8.00 per hour 25 hours per week
Program: June 12, 2006-August 4, 2006
The SouthWest Organizing Project (SWOP) is a non-profit, community based organization that works toward gender and racial equality and social and economic justice. We are currently in search of 5 part time youth interns for the summer. Under the guidance of a SWOP staff member the youth interns will take part in a three component program including leadership development and political education, an eight week campaign or project with specific goals or end product and integration into SWOP by learning about past and present campaign work. The youth will have hands on experience in community organizing that will include campaign development and planning, door to door member contacts and advocacy and training in grassroots fundraising and strategic media planning.
Requirements
- Between the ages of 14-24
- Ability to work hours listed above
- Flexibility
- Readiness to participate in training programs
- Willingness to work on all SWOP campaigns and projects
- Highly motivated
- Openness to learn about and critically question social issues
Youth Summer Internship Application Process
