SWOP homepageSWOP and the ABQ Chamber agree on one thing...
marjorie says...
Well, SWOP and the Albuquerque Chamber are in agreement on some things.
Terri Cole, of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, in response to a question by one of the resident Free Marketeers on the Council about the desirability of raising the wage (this is a paraphrase):
...yes, this isn't desirable but this proposal is least harmful to us (the business sector). Given what we would get in a referendum that would have a very good chance of passing. It has a lot of popular support and would likely pass. We believe this is better for us than a battle that we would probably lose...and in the end we would have this raise PLUS indexing and a lack of a phase-in.
ps: yes, karlos, all the bloggers are dreaming of booze right now! there are a fair amount of people here...SWOP, NM Voices for Children, ACORN, AFSCME, CLC...
